May 13, 2014Hearts United in Prayer: Join Our Wednesday Connect Group
Every Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM, something beautiful happens in our church. Through the convenience of Zoom or meeting at NPC, hearts across our community unite in prayer, study, and fellowship during our Connect Group and Prayer Meeting sessions. If you haven’t yet experienced this blessing, I invite you to discover what you’ve been missing.
I was hesitant about joining an online prayer group. But from my very first session, I felt the Holy Spirit’s presence just as powerfully as in any in-person gathering. The intimate sharing and heartfelt prayers have become the highlight of my week. These Wednesday nights have transformed my prayer life. Hearing others share their struggles and victories has taught me to be more vulnerable with God and more intentional about interceding for others.
The sessions combine meaningful Bible study with dedicated discussion and prayer time, creating space for both spiritual growth and community connection. Whether you’re dealing with personal challenges, seeking guidance for your family, or simply desiring deeper fellowship with fellow believers, these gatherings offer a safe haven for authentic Christian community.
Kevin Terry and I also meet to pray by telephone at 7am every Monday. This was easy in the warmer months, but we have persevered during the weeks of late and wholeheartedly believe that true revival begins with personal prayer. These morning prayer sessions as well as our Wednesday Connect Group provide the perfect environment to cultivate this vital spiritual discipline. As we join together in seeking God’s face, we’re not just growing individually – we’re positioning ourselves as a congregation to receive the latter rain blessing our church so desperately needs.
The beauty of meeting via telephone or Zoom means geography, working late, or needing to venture out in inclement weather is no barrier to being part of this vital ministry. Several parents participate after putting children to bed, and Jess and I are often eating dinner when the meeting starts.
I’ve seen answers to prayers we’ve lifted up together. There’s something powerful about corporate prayer that multiplies our individual efforts. We’re truly stronger together.
Each session begins with a brief devotional thought, followed by open sharing of prayer requests and praises. The remainder of our time is spent in earnest prayer, with participants freely praying for whatever they feel impressed to lift up. We are usually finished in 40-50 minutes. I trust that if you give it a go, you too will enjoy being a part of this church ministry.
Join us this Wednesday at 7:00 PM. The Zoom link is available in this newsletter, or if you are feeling extra bold, you can meet at NPC to participate in person. Come expecting God to work, and you will be rewarded.
