September 3, 2025Serving Him
As Christians, our faith journey is anchored in a growing relationship with Christ, obedience to His Word, and anticipation of His soon return. Our walk with Jesus is not simply about duty or tradition. It is about an ever-deepening experience with a loving Saviour who faithfully leads His people and calls us to embrace one another in His love.
From the beginning of our spiritual journey, we are drawn to Christ through His grace and sacrifice. We learn that salvation is a gift freely given through faith in Jesus. Yet as we continue walking with Him through Bible study, prayer, Sabbath worship, and service, we discover that our understanding of His love deepens and becomes more personal. Ellen G. White reminds us that as we come closer to Jesus, we see more clearly both our need of Him and His transforming grace. This transformation is not only personal, but it also shapes how we treat those around us, teaching us to show compassion, patience, forgiveness, and unity.
One of the distinctive blessings of our Adventist faith is the gift of the Sabbath. Each week, God invites us to step away from the busyness of life and spend sacred time with Him. Over the years, many believers find that the Sabbath becomes sweeter, not merely as a commandment to observe, but as a cherished appointment with the Creator and Redeemer. In a world often marked by division and isolation, Sabbath fellowship reminds us that we belong to God’s family and are called to care for one another with Christ-like love.
Serving Christ also grows sweeter as we participate in His mission. At times, service can feel challenging, especially in a world that does not always embrace biblical truth. Yet those who remain faithful often discover that service brings deep joy and purpose. True service includes creating welcoming, inclusive church communities where every person feels valued and embraced.
The sweetness of serving Christ is often most evident during life’s trials. Whether facing personal loss, uncertainty, or hardship, God’s sustaining grace becomes more real through experience. When church members pray for one another, visit those who are struggling, and offer encouragement, they demonstrate the living presence of Christ within the church body.
As we watch the signs of the times and see prophecy unfolding, our hearts are drawn closer to Him. The anticipation of seeing Jesus face-to-face gives meaning to our service and strengthens our commitment to live faithfully. It also reminds us that heaven will be a place of perfect unity and love, inspiring us to practise those values now by embracing one another with grace and understanding.
Walking with Jesus becomes more fulfilling over time. It is a testimony worth sharing with our family, friends, neighbours and the wider community. Demonstrating God’s faithfulness not only inspires others but also helps build their trust by showing that dedicated devotion to Christ leads to lasting rewards over a lifetime.
As we continue our spiritual journey, may we remain faithful in worship, committed to service, and steadfast in hope. May we cherish the Sabbath, study God’s Word diligently, support and uplift one another, and share His love with those around us. And as we do, may we each be able to testify from personal experience that truly, the longer we serve Him, the sweeter He grows.
Blessings,
